Five Farmers have all the machinery anyone could want to maintain and improve your pasture. From mole drainage and ditching to harrowing, ploughing, re-seeding and any type of tillage. And of course all the knowledge and expertise acquired from nurturing hundreds of acres in this area.

In the Spring of 2008 we've acquired some new kit to help you: see the photos below.

chain harrow

Harrowing (very).
Is the grass in your field patchy, covered in mole heaps or dung pats, harrowing will spread these and let the air into the roots, plus seed can be sown at the same time if required.

muck loading

Muck spreading (better we do it than you?)

Lime spreading

Lime spreading.
Is your soil “sour”, the grass not very palatable, only the weeds seem to grow maybe it’s acidic? If the ph is below 6.5, an application of ground limestone will sweeten it up. Animals need calcium in their diet to remain healthy.

Roller

Roller with transport wheels up and rolling
Get rid of the ruts and paunching by your stock during the winter; also roll in your newly planted grass seeds.

This roller can be transported clear of the ground, suitable for traveling on gravel, concrete and tarmac areas without marking them.

Seed drill

Now this is a nice bit of kit. Sort of combined harrow and seed-drill: just the thing to spruce up your tired pasture.

And this shows how the arms retract, or lower, when moving between fields

Topper

Is your field growing out of control, whether it’s just the grass too old and long, patches of nettles, thistles, docks, brambles, gorse, or bracken, these can be cut and chopped into mulch. Our new topper that mulches like a hedge flail rather than just slash the top off your docks.

Now seen in action

Treat the weeds in your field with a selective weed killer; get rid of those unsightly docks, thistles, nettles and buttercups. Access to most areas, the sprayer is the same width as a tractor.
